a story spanning nearly 100 years, the silver bars aboard the S.S.
Gairsoppa have spent much of their lives buried three miles beneath the
surface of the North Atlantic. Before the Gairsoppa was tragically
torpedoed by a World War II Nazi submarine, the hardworking steel-hulled
British cargo ship transported commercial goods between England, India,
the Far East, Australia and East Africa for the British India Steam
Navigation Company.
